Valentine Poem

Thou art so very sweet and fair,

With such a heaven in thine eyes,

It almost seems an overcare

To ask them to be good or wise.

As if a little bird were blam'd

Because its song unthinking flows;

As if a rose should be asham'd

Of being nothing but a rose.

See the mountains kiss high heaven,

And the waves clasp one another;

No sister flower would be forgiven

If it disdained its brother;

And the sunlight clasps the earth,

And the moonbeams kiss the sea;

What are all these kissings worth,

If thou kiss not me?
